Jameson Resources holds a 90% interest in the Crown Mountain Project which is located in the prolific Elk Valley coal field in south eastern British Columbia.
The Elk Valley harbours five producing metallurgical coal mines, operated by Teck. These coal mines produce over 21 million tonnes per annum of export quality coking, PCI, and thermal coal.
The Project sits in the heart of this lucrative production hub within 20km of two significant coking coal mines, Line Creek which is 12km to the north, and Elkview which is 8km to the southwest. The Project includes six granted coal licenses (418150, 418151, 418152, 418153, 418154 and 418966) and four pending license applications.
Exploration activities undertaken in 2012 resulted in the definition of a total open pit coal resource of 90M tonnes at Crown Mountain. A Preliminary Economic Assessment confirmed potential robust economics for a low cost metallurgical coal mining operation. In 2013 additional drilling and bulk sampling occurred, leading to a positive pre-feasibility study (“PFS”) released in August 2014.
The PFS was updated in April 2017 and demonstrates robust economics.
Crown Mountain is in the pre-application stage of the Environmental Assessment (“EA”) process. Preliminary design engineering, and initial drafting work on the Application for an EA Certificate commenced in June/July 2017. Baseline environmental studies are underway, with many at or nearing completion.
The PFS Update projected Crown Mountain construction to begin in 2019, with first coal production by late 2020.
